Spinning V8’s over 8,000rpm is all in a days work on this Spintron.
Nascar is one of the most brutal environment’s for an engine, period. 400-600 miles of continuos RPM thrown at these blocks means failure is inevitable. So, these guys test and test and test… and test again! A great place for Toyota’s TRD brand to flex. In the video seen here you have a Nascar cup spec engine being spun on a Spintron.
Notice the engine uses no exhaust headers? They are only spinning the crank/camshaft to test engine harmonics and test how the valves flow in motion. On the screen you see the engine RPMÂ only goes to 4500rpm. This is because a camshaft only turns at 1/2 the speed of the engine as a whole. So you are really seeing 8,000+ RPM.
